The syllabus for NEST 2022 mainly follows the NCERT/CBSE science syllabus of classes XI-XII. Two questions in each section are designed to test the general scientific knowledge of the student rather than the specific knowledge of the subject.
These two questions, which may not be from the said syllabus at all, would require knowledge of science subjects of class X level.

- Organic Chemistry
Basic concepts, Reactive intermediates, Nomenclature, Alkenes and Alkynes, Aromatic compounds, Haloalkanes (Alkyl halides), Phenols, Ethers, Aldehydes and Ketones, Carboxylic acids, Amines, Carbohydrate, Amino acids and proteins, Polymers.
Algebra, Trigonometry, Analytical geometry, Differential calculus, Integral calculus, Vectors.
General, Mechanics, Sound and mechanical waves, Thermal physics, Electricity & magnetism, Optics, Modern physics.
